HLPCA mission statement: The Houston Licensed Professional Counselors Association, (HLPCA), is an organization designed to promote and enhance the professionalism of its members. The association addresses the needs of LPC's in private and public practice by:

* Offering continuing education programs
* Presenting opportunities for professional growth
* Exchanging information
* Providing a networking forum
* Sharing experiences
* Reducing practitioner isolation
* Acting as a voice to promote mental health counseling

HLPCA was founded in 1990 to increase public and professional awareness of Licensed Professional Counselors, as well as a place to network with other counseling professionals. The organization began to offer continuing education programs in 1993.
